The Philosophy

Small, focused, yours.

JOWB Inc. is an independent technology company founded in July 2024 by engineers with deep, senior experience across software, hardware, cryptography, and AI. We design and ship lightweight tools that help people build, test, debug, and explore on their own devices — without renting someone else's computer. No analytics. No tracking SDKs. No accounts you didn't ask for.

Privacy by architecture

Our products don't collect, store, or transmit personal data — not because of a promise, but because the data physically stays on hardware you own.

Control, in hand

The screen you're holding is the control room — your phone for the Box and JS Shell, or the Touch's own 10.1″ display. No keyboard, no panel maze, no separate Mac required.

Built to grow

Start with one box and one app. Add nodes as business grows. Hardware and software from the same company, designed to work as one system.

In Real Life

At home on any shelf.

No server room, no rack, no fan noise. Jowb Server disappears into your living room — and your whole business runs from your pocket.

Two products. One idea.

Stop renting your business. Own it.

A box on your shelf. A console in your pocket. All data in your hands.

Hardware · Jowb Server

Your business website, served from home.

One server, two forms: a quiet shelf-top Box you control from your phone, or a self-contained 10.1″ Touch you control right on its screen. Pick a template and publish a beautiful commercial site in minutes.

Two Form Factors

Same server. Two ways to hold it.

Box and Touch run identical JowbOS builds on identical octa-core internals — choose how you want to control it. One is a single unit; Pro is a factory-paired pair with mutual backup. Box and Touch mix freely, in a Pro pair or in a cluster.

Form Factor 01

Jowb Server Box

The invisible one.

A set-top-box-sized unit with no screen of its own — it disappears onto a shelf and is driven entirely from the Jowb app on your phone.

  • Controlled from your phone, anywhere
  • Smallest footprint, lowest cost per node
  • The natural building block for clusters

Form Factor 02

Jowb Server Touch

The self-contained one.

The same server behind a 10.1″ multi-touch display. Unbox it, tap through setup, build and publish — all on its own screen. No phone required; the app stays optional for remote control.

  • Everything on its own screen — zero pairing
  • Doubles as a live dashboard on your counter
  • Great for shops without a "tech person"
The Product

A whole hosting company, the size of a router.

Jowb Server replaces template builders, hosting plans, and cloud lock-in with one quiet box in your living room.

Control, your way

The Box is driven entirely from the Jowb app on your phone. The Touch puts the same controls on its own 10.1″ screen — no phone required. Either way: no keyboard, no SSH, no panel maze.

Your data, your hardware

Sites, orders, customers, media — all stored on the device you own. Keys are generated with quantum-resistant algorithms, sealed inside the device's hardware trust anchor, and never leave it.

Grows with your business

One box serves a small shop. Need more concurrent customers — or zero downtime? Add a second unit (that's exactly what a Pro pair is) or more; they discover each other, back each other up, and share the load automatically.

Site generation

Build your commercial site, as easily as choosing a wallpaper.

Pick from professionally designed templates — boutique, café, agency, spa, portfolio, e-commerce and more. Swap photos and text from your phone, attach your own domain, and hit publish. Jowb Server handles TLS certificates, global reachability through encrypted relays, and automatic backups, all by itself.

How It Works

From cardboard box to open-for-business in four steps.

01

Plug it in

Power and Ethernet (or Wi-Fi). The status light turns amber while it boots, green when it's ready.

02

Pair — or just tap

Box: open the Jowb app and scan the code on the bottom — an end-to-end encrypted channel binds phone to server. Touch: nothing to pair; setup runs right on its screen.

03

Pick a template

Boutique, café, design agency, spa — choose a starting point and make it yours with your photos, menu, prices, and brand.

04

Publish

One tap. Your site is live on the internet, served from your home, reachable worldwide, backed up locally.

Templates

Designed for real businesses.

Every template ships with the pages a working business needs — storefront, booking, menu, contact — not just a pretty landing page.

Plus: Portfolio, Restaurant, Salon, Gym, Photographer, Consultant, Event, and a blank canvas for when you'd rather start from zero.

Security

Safe, reliable, and quietly paranoid.

Most website builders hold your business hostage on someone else's cloud. Jowb Server is built the other way around: the device is the root of trust, and you hold the device.

  • Quantum-resistant by design

Device identity, software updates, backups and the control channel are built on NIST-track post-quantum algorithms — so the keys protecting your business won't be broken by tomorrow's quantum computers, and traffic recorded today can't be decrypted later.

  • Hardware-rooted keys

Signing and encryption keys are generated inside the device's secure environment and sealed to that specific unit — they can't be copied off, even by us.

  • End-to-end encrypted control

Your phone and your server talk over an authenticated, encrypted peer-to-peer channel. Relays only forward ciphertext; they can't read or alter anything.

  • Tamper- and rollback-resistant

A verified boot chain and monotonic anti-rollback counters mean the box only runs software you can trust, and old compromised states can't be replayed.

  • Local, encrypted backups

Snapshots are encrypted on-device. Restore to a new unit with your recovery kit — no cloud account required.

Capabilities

A real browser engine. Your rules.

JS Shell gives the web platform back to you as a tool — every API, on a genuine local origin, on the device in your hand.

Paste & run HTML

Drop in any HTML/JS and execute it instantly on a real local origin — not a sandbox toy. Secure-context APIs behave exactly as they would in production.

WebRTC & fetch testing

Stand up RTCPeerConnections, inspect ICE candidates, fire fetch requests and read raw responses — straight from your pocket, on real networks.

Camera, mic & sensors

Test getUserMedia, geolocation, and speech recognition against the device's real hardware. Permissions are invoked only when your code asks.

Saved scripts & snippets

Keep a library of test harnesses, polyfills and experiments. Everything is stored locally in the app sandbox — organize, duplicate, export.

Key-value store

A persistent on-device store your scripts can read and write — perfect for tokens, fixtures and state between runs. Exportable, and never synced anywhere.

P2P terminal for Jowb Server

Open an end-to-end encrypted terminal to any Jowb Server you own — multiple simultaneous connections, each with its own indexed session.

Who It's For

Built for the moments a laptop is too far away.

  • Web developers on the move

Reproduce that mobile-only bug on the actual device, on the actual network, the moment it's reported.

  • API & backend engineers

Poke endpoints, inspect headers, and script multi-step requests from anywhere — no Postman, no laptop.

  • WebRTC & networking people

Real cellular NATs, real Wi-Fi captive portals, real ICE behavior — the conditions you can't simulate at a desk.

  • Jowb Server owners

Power users get a direct, encrypted line into their own hardware. Tail logs, run maintenance, check cluster state from a beach chair.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does JS Shell collect any data about me?
No. There are no analytics, no tracking SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no accounts, and no third-party services. Your scripts and data live in the app's local sandbox and never leave your device unless you send them yourself. Read the full privacy policy.
Why does the app ask for camera / microphone / location permissions?
Only because your own code can call those APIs — for example a page that calls getUserMedia() or navigator.geolocation. Permissions are invoked solely by functionality you explicitly run, and the data is delivered directly to your in-app content. JS Shell itself never captures, reads, or transmits it.
Do I need a Jowb Server to use JS Shell?
Not at all. JS Shell is a complete standalone developer console. The P2P terminal is a bonus for people who also own Jowb Server hardware.
Is it really a full browser engine?
Your code runs in the platform's embedded web engine on a genuine local origin, so secure-context APIs — service workers, WebRTC, media devices — behave the way they do on the real web, not in a stripped-down sandbox.
How much does it cost?
JS Shell is a free download on both stores. A one-time Pro unlock ($9.99) adds the multi-connection P2P terminal and unlimited saved scripts. No subscriptions — see pricing.
I found a bug. Where do I report it?
Email contact@jowb.com — we try to respond within two business days. Urgent issues: text +1 (702) 763-1288 (SMS only — no voice calls), Pacific Time business hours.

Hardware

Jowb Server

Every unit has the same octa-core internals — tiers differ in how many devices you get. One is a single server; Pro is a factory-paired pair that backs itself up; Cluster is three nodes or more. Each device is available as the phone-controlled Box ($389) or the 10.1″ touchscreen Touch ($489); a Pro pair is any two devices plus $500 for the cluster capability — e.g. Box + Touch = $389 + $489 + $500 = $1,378.

Pricing FAQ

The fine print, in plain English.

Are there really no monthly fees for Jowb Server?
Really. You buy the hardware once. The encrypted relay network, software updates, and your *.jowb.site subdomain are included for the life of the device. Your only recurring cost is your own electricity (~$1.50/month at typical rates) and whatever you pay your domain registrar.
What does "~1,000 concurrent visitors" actually mean?
It's the number of customers actively loading pages at the same instant that one Jowb Server One can serve while staying fast. For context, that's roughly the load of a shop doing tens of thousands of visits per day. A Pro pair roughly doubles it — and keeps your sites live even if one unit fails — and a Cluster raises it with every node you add.
Can I start with One and upgrade later?
Yes — that's the point of the architecture. Every unit is identical hardware, so nothing you buy is ever wasted. Add a second unit to a One and email us for the $500 cluster-capability upgrade — it converts the pair into a full Pro (mutual backup, failover, e-commerce suite); add more nodes any time after that. They share the load automatically.
When do pre-orders ship?
Pre-orders are charged at shipment, not at order. To pre-order, just email contact@jowb.com or text +1 (702) 763-1288 (SMS only) with a one-line message like “Pre-order Jowb Server Pro” — a real person will reply with the current production batch schedule and your region's availability.
What's your return policy?
30 days, no questions, full refund — wipe the device with the in-app factory reset first (it destroys the sealed keys, so your data is unrecoverable by design). Hardware carries a 2-year limited warranty (3 years for Cluster). Details under Support → Warranty.
What does "quantum-resistant" actually mean?
Large-scale quantum computers are expected to break the public-key cryptography most of the internet runs on today — and attackers already record encrypted traffic now to decrypt later ("harvest now, decrypt later"). Jowb Server is built ahead of that: device identity, update signing, encrypted backups and the phone-to-server control channel all use post-quantum algorithms from the NIST standardization track, rooted in the device's hardware trust anchor. What you protect today stays protected.
What exactly does the Pro pair's "mutual backup" do?
The two units arrive factory-paired. Each continuously keeps an encrypted replica of the other's sites, orders and settings, so there is no single point of failure: if one unit dies, loses power, or gets stolen, the survivor keeps every site live and holds a full copy of your data. Replace the lost unit, scan one QR code, and the pair heals itself. The $500 on top of the two devices is the cluster capability itself: factory pre-pairing, the mutual-backup fabric, automatic failover, and the Pro software tier (full e-commerce suite, priority bandwidth, up to 10 guidance sessions).
Box or Touch — which one should I get?
Internally they're the same server: identical JowbOS, identical security, identical sites, identical octa-core internals. Pick the Box if you want the lowest price, an invisible install, and cheap cluster nodes — you'll control it from your phone. Pick the Touch if you'd rather never pair a phone at all: setup, building and publishing all happen on its own 10.1″ screen, and it doubles as a live dashboard on your counter. They mix freely in one cluster.
What counts as an email technical-guidance session?
One session is one issue worked to resolution over email — setup help, domain configuration, migration advice, performance tuning — however many replies it takes. Jowb Server One includes 3 sessions; Pro includes up to 10. Bug reports, security disclosures and warranty claims are always free and unlimited, and never count against your sessions. Need more? Email contact@jowb.com and we'll sort something out.
Is JS Shell Pro a subscription?
No. It's a one-time in-app purchase, tied to your App Store / Google Play account, restorable on any of your devices. We don't do subscriptions.

Setup Guides

Five-minute guides for the big four.

Guide 01 · 5 min

First-time setup & pairing

  1. Connect power and Ethernet (or plan to use Wi-Fi). Wait for the status light to turn from amber to green (~90 seconds on first boot).
  2. Install the Jowb app from the App Store or Google Play and tap Add device.
  3. Scan the QR code on the bottom plate. This performs a key exchange directly with the device's hardware vault — the pairing secret never touches our servers.
  4. Name your server, optionally join Wi-Fi, and you're in. The dashboard shows uptime, bandwidth and hosted sites.

Jowb Server Touch: skip steps 2–3 — setup runs on the device's own screen. Pairing the app afterwards is optional, for remote control.

Guide 02 · 3 min

Connecting a custom domain

  1. In the app: Site → Domains → Add custom domain and type your domain.
  2. At your registrar, create the two records the app shows you — a CNAME to your relay endpoint and a TXT ownership proof.
  3. Tap Verify. TLS certificates are issued and renewed automatically; nothing else to do, ever.
Guide 03 · 2 min

Adding a node to your cluster

  1. Plug the new unit into power and the same network (different sites in your home are fine too — nodes find each other over the encrypted relay).
  2. In the app: Cluster → Add node, scan the new unit's QR code.
  3. That's it. Load balancing and failover are automatic; the dashboard shows per-node traffic within a minute.
Guide 04 · 4 min

Backups & restoring to a new unit

  1. Backups are on by default: encrypted snapshots are written to internal storage nightly, and to the microSD card if one is inserted (recommended — keep it somewhere safe).
  2. Your recovery kit card (in the box) holds the recovery phrase that can decrypt those snapshots. Store it like cash.
  3. To restore: on a new unit, choose Restore from backup during setup, insert the microSD (or point at a connected drive), and enter the recovery phrase.
  4. Sites, settings and data come back; the new unit re-seals everything under its own hardware keys.
Troubleshooting

When the light isn't green.

Status light stays amber for more than 5 minutes
The device can't reach the internet. Check the Ethernet cable or, on Wi-Fi, re-run network setup by holding the rear button for 3 seconds (light blinks blue → setup mode). Corporate or hotel networks with captive portals aren't supported as the primary uplink.
Status light is red
Verified boot failed or storage is faulty. Power-cycle once. If red persists, the device refuses to run unverified software by design — contact support for an RMA. Your data remains recoverable from backups on a replacement unit.
My site is slow for visitors far away
Enable Edge caching (Site → Performance) so static assets are served from relay points near your visitors, while orders and dynamic data still come only from your hardware. For sustained heavy traffic, add a node — see Guide 03.
The app can't find my server after a router change
Give it ~2 minutes: the device re-registers with the relay network automatically on any network change. If it doesn't reappear, power-cycle the unit; pairing never needs to be redone.
I lost my recovery kit card
While the device works, generate a new recovery phrase under Settings → Security → Rotate recovery phrase (the old one stops working immediately). If the device is dead and the phrase is lost, backups cannot be decrypted — by anyone, including us. That's the price, and the point, of real ownership.
Company

An engineering company in the desert.

JOWB Inc. is an independent hardware and software company, incorporated in July 2024 and headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. We design and ship lightweight utilities that help people test, debug, build, and explore on their own devices — without spinning up a separate Mac or renting a remote server.

Founded July 2024

Engineers first. Incorporated second.

JOWB Inc. was incorporated in July 2024 — but the founders and team had already spent careers shipping at exactly the intersection our products live on. Jowb Server and JS Shell exist because this team wanted them to exist for themselves first.

2024Incorporated in Nevada
4Core disciplines, one roof
2Products. On purpose.
  • Software

Distributed systems, peer-to-peer networking, and the unglamorous craft of software that runs for years untouched.

  • Hardware

Embedded systems, secure boot chains, and silicon-level trust anchors — the discipline that makes "your data stays on your device" a fact, not a slogan.

  • Cryptography

Applied cryptography from TLS to post-quantum signatures, designed into the architecture from day one rather than bolted on at the end.

  • AI

Machine-learning experience applied where it earns its keep — site generation, layout, and tooling. Never surveillance.

Why "own your stack"?

Because the alternative is paying rent forever on infrastructure you'll never control, with your customers' data as the security deposit. We think small businesses deserve the same sovereignty over their digital storefront that they have over their physical one.

How we work

A small senior team — software, hardware, cryptography, and AI under one roof — with long timelines and few products. We'd rather ship one device and one app that are genuinely finished than a portfolio of half-things. Hardware and software are designed together, in-house, as one system.
